In mineral processing plants, ball mills are rarely operated as standalone units; they typically work in conjunction with other processing equipment. A typical ball mill unit includes a classifier, lubrication system, feeder, and so on. These components are all interconnected, working together to complete the mineral processing operation. So how can we ensure that their combination coordinates perfectly to complete the entire process?

To ensure the smooth and orderly operation of the mineral processing process, the following points should be implemented:

1. During startup, equipment should be started sequentially from back to front (bottom to top) according to the material flow direction. Generally, the sequence is: oil pump, classifier, ball mill, belt conveyor, feeder. Simultaneous startup of multiple pieces of equipment is strictly prohibited. For planned shutdowns, the sequence is reversed, i.e., shutdown should proceed from front to back. Furthermore, there should be an interval between starting each piece of equipment.

2. After the equipment is fully started and operating stably, feeding can begin. Feeding ore should only begin after the ball mill has been running for approximately 20 minutes.

3. Before starting up, the machine should generally be rotated 23 times. The ball mill should be shut down for at least 4 hours to loosen any adhering slime and media.

4. The equipment should be emptied as completely as possible (e.g., the ball mill should be shut down approximately 15 hours after feeding has stopped) to create favorable conditions for the next startup. Shutdowns should be performed under no-load conditions.

5. Avoid running the ball mill for extended periods without feeding, as this can cause corrosion and wear of the liners and steel balls.

Throughout the entire process, from start to finish, a thorough and comprehensive inspection must be consistently implemented to ensure that any obstacles hindering the mineral processing are eliminated. Remember, every detail can potentially hinder your success; never be careless.
