Structural features of a double-roll crusher
The function of a double-roll crusher is to crush ores of medium hardness. This type of crusher is commonly used in industries such as cement, chemicals, mineral processing, and coal processing. The working principle of a double-roll crusher is as follows: ore is conveyed onto two counter-rotating crushing rolls. The friction between the rolls and the material forces it into the space between the rolls, where it is then crushed in one pass. The crushed material is discharged through the gap at the bottom of the rolls. During production, the distance of the gap at the bottom of the rolls can be adjusted according to the desired particle size of the finished product. Therefore, this equipment produces products with uniform particle size, and the particle size range is easily adjustable.

The rollers rotate via a V-belt drive. Bearings at both ends of the roller shaft are fixed to the frame on one side and to a movable bearing housing on the other, allowing horizontal movement along the frame for easy discharge of crushed material.
The feed carriage can be fixed to the movable bearing housing or mounted on the frame of the fixed roller. It is invaluable when the roller skin wears down and a carbide turning tool is needed to machine it. Sprockets at both ends of the roller shaft are used for speed changes during roller machining. A scraper below the roller removes wet material adhering to the crushed material, preventing excessive moisture from causing blockages and further malfunctions.
The design of double-roll crushers often employs long-tooth gear drives to maintain good transmission performance and prevent significant changes in the distance between the two rolls during operation due to various factors. The characteristic of long-tooth gears is that they allow changes in the center distance during operation without disrupting the meshing characteristics, ensuring the operational stability of the crushing equipment.
