Rotary dryer system structure and working principle

2025-12-21

Rotary dryers are a new type of drying machinery widely used in industries such as mining, building materials, metallurgy, and chemicals. They are used to dry powdery, granular, and small lump materials, and can perform drying, cooling, and rolling processes during the conveying process. For many years, the design of this equipment has relied heavily on empirical analogies, particularly lacking precise calculations for material movement and rotational speed analysis within the tube, thus failing to fully utilize the equipment’s performance.

A rotary dryer is a cylindrical metal drum made of rolled steel plate, welded together. The drum is equipped with a tire and large rollers. The drum is supported on the rollers by the tire, and a pair of guide rollers are installed on both sides of the tire to indicate and limit the drum’s movement along its inclined direction. The drum rotates using a gear mechanism driven by a motor and a gearbox. Due to the drum’s inclination and continuous rotation, the material moves from the higher end of the drum to the lower end under the influence of gravity, gradually being dried by the hot gas during this process.
