Maintenance measures for sand making machine equipment

For mechanical equipment, prolonged operation in harsh environments weakens its load-bearing capacity, and extended operation is one of the two main factors leading to equipment damage. Therefore, it’s crucial to pay close attention to routine maintenance. How can we effectively maintain this equipment and extend its lifespan? This is a concern for our customers. Here are four points to keep in mind.

Properly Adjusting the Fit Between Rollers

The rotor bearings of an impact crusher primarily bear impact loads during operation. The loads on the rolling elements vary, with the element under the resultant force of the impact load experiencing greater stress. The inner and outer raceways also experience stress at this point of contact with the rolling element. Because the inner ring rotates continuously, the contact point on the track cycles between periods of greater and lesser stress. Therefore, a tighter fit is necessary to prevent any point from remaining at a point of greater stress. The outer ring, however, is relatively fixed, and its point of greater stress remains at a fixed point. A looser fit on the outer ring allows for slight movement under impact, increasing the number of points of greater stress and extending its lifespan.

Improving Rotor Balance Accuracy

The rotor of an impact crusher has a large mass and high speed. Casting deviations in the rotor body and mass deviations caused by the installation of the hammers will generate unbalanced centrifugal forces during rotor rotation. This centrifugal force causes forced vibration in the machine, leading to damage to bearings and other components. Therefore, the rotor of the crusher must undergo a balance test. If the rotor diameter is small, the mass of the end plates on both sides of the rotor can be adjusted for balance. If the rotor diameter is large, the counterweight can be welded to the outer wall of the rotor. To prevent the counterweight from falling off during vibration, several rows of grooves can be cast at appropriate locations, the counterweight can be embedded in them, and then welded on, which is both sturdy and aesthetically pleasing.

Double-row radial spherical roller bearings have advantages such as high load-bearing capacity and good self-aligning performance, making them a popular choice for rotor bearings. Furthermore, the calculated lifespan of the selected bearing should ideally be between 5000 and 10000 hours.

Improving the stress condition of the sand making machine bearings

The impact load acting on the bearing depends on the impulse acting on the rotor and the support flexibility of the bearing housing. Increasing the support flexibility of the bearing housing reduces the impact load acting on the bearing. Therefore, a rubber plate of appropriate thickness can be added between the bearing housing and the support frame to improve the support flexibility of the bearing housing. By adding the rubber plate, the increased support flexibility absorbs some vibration energy, improving the stress condition of the bearing and extending its service life.
