Energy-saving principle of multi-cylinder ball mill
Multi-cylinder ball mills are a new type of grinding equipment, characterized by their energy efficiency. Compared to ordinary ball mills, multi-cylinder ball mills are more than twice as energy-efficient. The fundamental difference between multi-cylinder and ordinary ball mills lies in the fact that the mill body is composed of multiple smaller cylinders distributed around its circumference. Each smaller cylinder contains grinding media. Because the grinding media are relatively dispersed across multiple cylinders, the eccentricity of the multi-cylinder ball mill during operation is much smaller than that of an ordinary ball mill, thus giving it significant energy-saving potential.

A series of studies have been conducted on multi-cylinder ball mills, including simulation experiments using multi-cylinder and single-cylinder ball mills with different cylinder diameters, and comparative intermittent and continuous grinding experiments under different material and process conditions. The results show that the superiority of multi-cylinder ball mills is fully demonstrated in the fine grinding stage, and is very significant, as it improves grinding efficiency by more than twice that of ordinary ball mills. Its grinding principle is not significantly different from that of ordinary ball mills, but its product characteristics, wear resistance, and other performance are much better. Based on this, process tests were conducted, and the results remained significant.
Multi-cylinder ball mills can be applied in modern factories and mines, and can also be used to retrofit existing ball mills. Its process flow is simple, operation is easy, and the equipment manufacturing is straightforward; therefore, its development prospects are immeasurable.
